About
Tucked away at the end of a narrow alley, Korean Restaurant Byeoleeya is a secluded, standalone dining house that offers an intimate hideaway. Stepping inside reveals a serene and refined atmosphere—an ideal setting for anniversaries, special celebrations, and important gatherings.
The cuisine is led by Chef Meika Hoshino, who trained in Korean royal cuisine in Seoul. Drawing on the techniques and spirit of traditional palace cooking, she presents her own interpretation of a multi‑course Hansik experience. Rooted in the philosophy of yakshik dongwon—that food and medicine share the same origin—the course is both nourishing and deeply flavorful. The meal opens with a beautifully arranged assortment of seasonal appetizers, inspired by the elegant dining tables of the royal court.
Incorporating Kyoto-grown vegetables into dishes such as namul and kimchi, the menu harmoniously blends Japanese and Korean ingredients while layering contemporary sensibilities onto tradition. The cuisine also reflects historical influences, including dishes inspired by the early Joseon dynasty—before chili peppers were introduced to Korea—offering insight into the depth and evolution of Korean culinary heritage. Wine and makgeolli pairings further enrich the experience.
In this tranquil space where tradition and innovation coexist gracefully, guests are invited to discover a new expression of Korean cuisine.
