Located in the basement of a building in Kagurazaka, Tori Takuchan is a yakitori restaurant opened by a chef who spent about four years honing his craft at a high‑end yakitori restaurant in Tokyo. With a unique background as a former nurse, the chef even offers medical advice to guests when needed.

The restaurant features carefully selected local chicken and ingredients from Akita Prefecture, creating dishes that highlight the natural character of each ingredient. For grilling, the chef uses Unama Binchotan, regarded as one of Japan’s three finest binchotan charcoals. Fresh local chicken, sourced directly from poultry farms, is grilled over strong, close heat to achieve a crisp exterior and juicy interior. Each breed—such as guinea fowl, golden shamo, and Tochigi shamo—is cooked to bring out its distinctive umami. The rare guinea fowl white liver is also one of the restaurant’s signature specialties.

The drink selection includes a wide variety of Akita sake, along with wines and shochu. The free‑flow course offers more than 50 types of beverages, including non‑alcoholic options, allowing guests to enjoy thoughtful pairings with the yakitori.

The chic, black‑themed interior features counter seating, where guests can enjoy the captivating experience of watching the chef grill each skewer right before their eyes.
