About
Kagurazaka Yumeji stands in a quiet alley behind Bishamonten in Kagurazaka. Housed in a renovated traditional home that once served as a geisha residence, the restaurant offers seasonal cuisine in an atmosphere imbued with the elegance of the Taisho Roman aesthetic.
The menu changes monthly and features dishes such as Hassun (Seasonal Platter), expressing the season, and Matsukasa‑yaki, showcasing meticulous craftsmanship. The restaurant values the inherent qualities of each ingredient—texture, umami, sweetness, and aroma—and sources only those that meet its standards. Ingredients unavailable at the market are procured directly from their places of origin. While honoring traditional culinary progression, the dishes are prepared to evoke depth and refinement without feeling old‑fashioned.
The sake selection reflects the four seasons, offering kasumi‑zake in spring, namazake in summer, hiyaoroshi in autumn, and freshly pressed new sake in winter. These seasonal sakes are served in traditional vessels such as tin, paired with dishes that mirror the time of year.
The interior, adorned with portraits of beautiful women by Takehisa Yumeji, period stained glass, and vintage lighting, creates a retro yet modern ambiance. In this Taisho Roman setting, complete with various private rooms, guests can enjoy seasonal cuisine and sake throughout the year.
