Michelin Star
Michelin Guide
2026

Waketokuyama is worth booking for its generous kaiseki (traditional multi-course meal) courses, which showcase the ingredients of each season. The menu changes every two weeks to keep pace with the seasons. The one constant is the signature grilled abalone. Served year-round, it comes thickly cut and coated in a rich liver sauce and nori. The courses are so plentiful that some guests have the final rice course packed up to take home.

Housed in a three-story standalone building, the restaurant has private rooms of various sizes on its second and third floors, all reachable by elevator. There are no steps anywhere inside, and the restroom can be used without leaving your wheelchair. Staff can also assist in English.

3. Edition Koji Shimomura

Michelin Star
Michelin Guide
2026

Light, healthy French cooking sets Édition Koji Shimomura apart. Owner-chef Koji Shimomura, who trained at acclaimed restaurants including the three-Michelin-starred La Côte d’Or, deliberately holds back on the cream and butter that French cuisine usually relies on. Instead, he lets the natural flavor and color of each ingredient take center stage.

A direct underground passage connects the building to Roppongi-itchome Station, with an elevator near the exit. There are no steps between the building entrance and the ground-floor restaurant. Inside, the aisles are wide and a spacious private room is also available. Some staff members speak English.

Careful control of temperature and heat draws out the full aroma and umami of each seasonal ingredient. Once the course is over, guests can also order à la carte.

5. Plaiga TOKYO

New selection
Michelin Guide
2026

Plaiga TOKYO puts a fresh spin on French cuisine with premium Japanese ingredients such as Hida beef and honkarebushi (aged, mold-cured bonito flakes). Chef Shota Ikeda honed his skills at Michelin-starred restaurants in France. His signature is a rice mousse made with Tsuyahime, a premium rice from Yamagata Prefecture, served in four presentations that each represent one of Japan’s seasons. It is a dish to enjoy with your eyes as much as your palate.

Because the restaurant is on a mezzanine floor reached by stairs inside the building, let the staff know in advance if you use a wheelchair. Once inside, the barrier-free dining room has plenty of space around each seat. There is a fully private room, and even the regular tables are separated by floor-to-ceiling partitions. English-speaking staff are available.

6. Mejiro Shunkoutei

Bib Gourmand
Michelin Guide
2026

Mejiro Shunkoutei specializes in yoshoku, a uniquely Japanese genre that adapts Western dishes to local tastes and is loved in Japan for its approachable comfort. Carefully selected ingredients and painstaking preparation elevate everyday favorites like Japanese-style hamburger steak and omurice (an omelet wrapped around seasoned rice). The kitchen also uses modern cooking techniques to explore new flavors. If the long menu makes it hard to choose, the dinner course bookable through OMAKASE is an easy place to start.

An elevator large enough for a wheelchair is located at the back of the building’s ground floor. Inside, the level dining room arranges its tables in three rows, leaving clear paths for wheelchairs to pass through.

New selection
Michelin Guide

LA BONNE TABLE combines French technique with Japanese ingredients in inventive dishes driven by chef Kazunari Nakamura’s deep affection for produce. He visits growers across Japan to hear their ideas and stories firsthand, then channels them into his cooking. He also makes a point of using every part of an ingredient, down to meat and vegetable trimmings.

Nakamura trained as sous-chef at a restaurant that later earned three Michelin stars. He is also well known in Japan for sharing recipes on a popular recipe video app.

The ground-floor entrance has no significant step, though you will need to pull open a glass door. Tables are well spaced, so moving around in a wheelchair should be easy. A semi-private room seats up to four, and English-speaking staff are available.
