Nestled in a quiet corner along the Sumida River, Shunka Nakamura is a Cantonese restaurant that exudes understated elegance.
The chef began his career in Yokohama Chinatown, building a solid foundation in Taiwanese cuisine and hotel kitchens. He later refined his craft at Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurants and renowned Japanese establishments in Nihonbashi and Shinbashi, and even studied traditional home-style dishes under his mentor’s guidance in Hong Kong.
The menu features dishes prepared with Wagyu beef, Cantonese-style roasted pork made from premium pork, Hong Kong–style steamed chicken, and double-boiled soups enriched with shark fin and rare dried ingredients sourced directly from Hong Kong.
Shunka Nakamura operates on a reservation-only basis for both lunch and dinner, offering kappo-style courses of ten or more dishes showcasing beef, pork, and chicken.
The restaurant centers around counter seating, allowing guests to experience the sounds, aromas, and movements of the kitchen up close. Watching each dish come together is one of the unique pleasures of dining here.
