Oryori Kokoroba （御料理 心馬）

Located just a 2-minute walk from Ningyocho Station, "Oryori Kokoroba" is a small kaiseki (a traditional Japanese multi-course) restaurant run by the Owner and chef, the Madam Hostess.

The Owner and chef carefully selects seasonal ingredients from the Toyosu Market and prepares each dish with utmost care and sincerity. Enjoy the heartfelt cuisine, perfectly paired with a selection of sake, wine, and carefully brewed tea.

【The origin of the restaurant's name】

There are two meanings to the origin of the restaurant's name.

✳︎The First meaning:

It represents the determination and sincerity of the Owner and chef.

As well as Sincerity, spirit, goodwill.

The Owner and chef loves the word "Kokoro" which represents emotions (sensitivity) that arise naturally, without a thoughts.

The Owner and chef's real name is "Kazuma", which means "Peaceful Horse" in kanji character.

The Owner and chef's personality is a strong-willed person who will see things through to the end once he has decided.

As customers who have already visited the restaurant will understand, the name truly represents the person.

On top of that, he has a calm and gentle aura like a horse.

And the Owner and chef's thoughts are always directed straight at the customer in front of him.

Each dish is carefully prepared. Kazuma will continue to convey to everyone his modestly tasting dishes that are made with great care for the ingredients, which you will never tire of no matter how much you eat, and his gratitude that cannot be expressed in words.

We call the Owner and chef's overflowing feelings for everyone "Kokoroba".

It means the Madam Hostess's commitment and sincerity.

"Kokoroba" was the term used in Heian period in Japan, which is now called "Kokoroe".

At that time, it was considered elegant and beautiful to convey feelings through beautiful handwriting, behavior, gaze, decoration, or through each other's perceptions, rather than expressing feelings out loud.

Therefore, when you wanted to convey important feelings such as gratitude to someone important to you, you would indirectly convey your feelings by gently decorating or handing them leaves and flowers from the beautiful mountains, which are a gift from nature, rather than using words that came out of your mouth.

The Madam Hostess, who loved books from a young age, grew up fascinated by the deep meaning of the word "Kokoroba" and the beautiful sound of it.

And now, as she welcomes customers every day, her sincere desire is to always think of them and continue to convey her gratitude through her daily preparations and hospitality.

This never-ending desire is what "Kokoroha" is.

In other words, Kokoro no Uma represents the sincerity of the owner, and Kokoro no Ha represents the sincerity of the Madam Hostess.

These two meanings overlap, and so the restaurant's name was chosen as "Oryori Kokoroba".

  Please arrive 5 minutes before your reserved time to ensure a timely start of your meal. If you do not contact us within 15 minutes of your reservation time, your reservation will be automatically cancelled.
