About
Step through the large noren curtain and you’ll find a stone counter encircling the open kitchen at Takasaki no Okan. Led by owner-chef Jyo Takasaki, the restaurant is built on the concept of “bringing heat to ingredients, sake, and people,” offering thoughtful pairings of Japanese cuisine and warmed sake.
Each sake is carefully heated to precise temperatures and paired with dishes to bring out their best qualities. Centered around natural sake, the restaurant also uses naturally grown rice and vegetables, valuing close relationships with its producers.
Seasonality is at the heart of the menu, with vegetables grown using low- or no-pesticide methods, often without fertilizers or compost. Eggs and meats are sourced from farms that prioritize animal welfare. With a deep respect for nature, each ingredient is handled with care, and the course is crafted around cooking techniques that highlight natural flavors while harmonizing with sake.
The space features an elegant counter-only setting, accompanied by serene music reminiscent of Noh and tea ceremony, creating a calm, nature-inspired atmosphere. It is a place where even solo guests can feel at ease.
Step away from the everyday and enjoy a carefully curated pairing of cuisine and warmed sake, at your own pace.
